as we travel to what once was and is now abandoned, searching for inspiration and the perfect sound for our music.
Mosquitoes, fleas, scorching sun and intrusive guests. A challenging journey far south that lifted our production to the next level, sowed new dreams and challenged us on new levels.
A totally isolated abandoned hydroelectric plant, closed in 1999. Now a preserved cultural monument, perfect for long days and nights of experimental music production.
Unaware of where the road will take us, we continue the journey and develop the music from place to place. Each location brings new inspiration and new challenges that shape the music and challenge the band's internal relationships.
The journey has begun. The escape from the studio and everything that might remind you of traditional music production. The start of a spark that would grow into a flame.
Originating from Norway in 2016, Milieu is a trio that defies easy categorization. Drawing inspiration from a diverse spectrum including alternative pop, rock, world music, experimental sounds and analog synth compositions, their sound is ever-evolving. Rather than being confined to a single genre or traditional studio settings, Milieu thrives on exploration. They've journeyed from the forests of Scandinavia to historical sites across the Mediterranean. These places, rich in history and ambiance, serve not just as backdrops but as integral elements in their music creation process. By capturing the authentic echoes and nuances of these locations, Milieu produces music deeply entwined with the places from which it emanates. At its core, Milieu's sound is both a testament to their expansive influences and a showcase of their pioneering spirit.
The strength of Milieu lies in its collaborative spirit. Each member plays a dual role, both as a musician and co-producer in their respective domains. This shared responsibility in songwriting, film production, and music production has been pivotal, enabling the trio to bring their broad vision to life.
As 2024 nears, Milieu is gearing up to introduce their first significant projects: an album deeply influenced by their travels and a documentary showcasing their unique process and experiences.
The band consists of Egil Jondal, Helge Kallevik and Sander Skogen.
